I just wanted to make a video."

I am honored that you are inspired by me.

On the flip side of this I blogged a few weeks ago about the places we would have missed if we did not have our children AND their special needs. Can you even imagine?

www.signingtime.com/rachelAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-854575870070704513.post-71017410072031257432007-12-17T20:02:00.000-05:002007-12-17T20:02:00.000-05:00I enjoyed reading the personal stories of the othe...I enjoyed reading the personal stories of the other moms, thanks for sharing!Karen Putzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09098620301550608119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-854575870070704513.post-51795316128404899812007-12-16T08:39:00.000-05:002007-12-16T08:39:00.000-05:00Before having my daughter, I was a paralegal for 1...Before having my daughter, I was a paralegal for 10 years. After having her, I really didn't want to get back into dealing with some of the low points of the job so I was pursuing my career in accounting. When my son was born in 2005 I was working towards getting my masters in accounting to sit for the CPA exam. I found out about my son's hearing loss when he was 17 mos. old. (He passed his newborn screening.) Pursuing a Masters in accounting at that point was the last thing on my mind. Now, a year-and-a-half later I am driving my son (who received his cochlear implant in May 2007) to the oral/deaf school an hour and 15 minutes away each day. My parent advisor and I have also started working with Hands and Voices to reach some of the families that have children in the Southern part of our state. I will probably also pursue training as a parent advocate because more are needed in this area, especially for deaf and hard of hearing. My cochlear team has asked if I would be a Parent Awareness Advisor for Cochlear which I have said I would be way more than happy too. I just want to be able to tell people what a miraculous piece of equipment this is and give them hope in a time that is so dark and unfamiliar.

It's been an extremely wild ride with many ups and downs but I still feel that I am extrememly lucky as I get to witness a miracle each and every day.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
